When the sky bursts open
and ˹listens and˺ obeys to its Lord ˹Allah˺ and it truly must do so
and when the earth is stretched out
and throws out what is in it (i.e., all its contents) and becomes empty
and ˹listens and˺ obeys to its Lord ˹Allah˺ and it truly must do so
O the human being! Indeed, you are working hard towards your Lord laboriously, then you shall meet Him ˹Allah˺
Then as for ˹him˺ who is given his record in his right ˹hand side˺
then soon his account will be taken by an easy accounting (i.e., reckoning)
and he will return to his people happily (i.e., joyfully)
But as for ˹him˺ who is given his record from behind his back
then soon he will call for ˹his own˺ destruction
and he will burn in a blazing Fire
Indeed, he was living happily (i.e., joyfully) amongst his people ˹in the world˺
indeed, he thought (i.e., assumed) that he would never return ˹to Allah˺
Yes! Indeed his Lord ˹Allah˺ was ˹ever˺ watchful of him
So, I ˹Allah˺ do swear by the twilight (i.e., afterglow of sunset)
and ˹by˺ the night and what it envelops (i.e., covers)
and ˹by˺ the moon when it becomes full
You will surely ride from stage to stage
So what is ˹the matter˺ with them, that they do not believe
and when the Quran is recited to them, they do not prostrate ˹in submission to Allah˺
But those who disbelieve, deny
and Allah knows best of what they keep (i.e., hide) within themselves
So give them the news of a painful punishment
Except those who believe and do the righteous ˹good˺ deeds, for them is a never–ending reward
