When the sun is wrapped up
And when the stars are dulled.
And the mountains are moved away
And the ten-month pregnant camels are left neglected
And when the wild beasts are assembled together
And when the seas are made to spill
And when the souls are [severally] paired [with their deeds]
And when the infant buried alive, is asked
for which trespass was she slain.
And when the scrolls are laid open—
And when the sky is peeled away
And when the Jaḥīm is set ablaze
And when the Garden is brought near
Every soul will know what it had presented.
So, Nay! I swear by the elusive ones—
the fleeting, the veiled,
And by the night when it darkens—
And by the dawn when it unfolds
Verily, it assuredly is the [faithfully delivered] word of a noble messenger,
endowed with power, secure of status with the Owner of the Throne.
one obeyed there, trustworthy.
And your fellow man [i.e., the Prophet] is not possessed
He did indeed see him [i.e., Angel Gabriel] in the open horizon.
And he is not anywise holding back [knowledge] about the unseeable realm.
And not is it the word of Satan, the outcast.
So then where are you going?
It is nothing but a reminder for all realms—
for whoever among you wills that he stays aright.
And you do not will, except that Allah, the Rabb of all realms, wills.
