Surah “He Frowned”

as rendered by The Wise Quran Project — 42 verses

He frowned and turned away,
That the blind man came to him.
And what would make you know perhaps he may purify himself,
Or remember, then the reminder profit him?
As for him who is free of need,
Then you, you occupy yourself with him.
And not upon you that he does not purify himself.
And as for him who came to you striving
And he fears,
So you are diverted from him.
Not so, indeed, it is a reminder.
So he who willed remembered it.
In honoured books,
Raised, purified,
In hands of scribes,
Noble, righteous.
Killed is man, what made him disbelieve?
He created him of what thing?
Of a sperm He created him then He determined him,
Then He made the way easy for him,
Then He caused him to die, then He made him to be buried,
Then when He wills, He will quicken him.
Not so, he did not execute what He commanded him.
So let man look at his food,
That We, We poured the water, pouring.
Then We split the earth, splitting.
Then We made to grow in it grain,
And grapes, and edible herbs,
And olive trees, and palm trees,
And gardens closely planted,
And fruit, and grass,
A provision for you and for your cattle.
Then when the deafening noise comes,
On the day the man will flee from his brother,
And his mother, and his father
And his female companion, and his children.
For every man among them on that day is a business to suffice him.
Faces on that day will be shining,
Laughing, rejoicing.
And faces on that day upon them will be dust,
Dust will cover them.
Those, they are the wicked disbelievers.
