Surah “The Tidings, The Announcement”

as rendered by A. S. Mohamed — 40 verses

What are they asking one another about?
It is about the great news
about which they differ.
But no! They will come to know.
Again, no indeed! They will come to know.
Did We not make the earth a resting place,
and the mountains as pegs?
And We created you in pairs?
And We made your sleep for rest,
and rendered the night a covering,
and made the day for livelihood?
And We built above you seven mighty ones,
and made a blazing lamp?
And We brought down pouring water from rain clouds
to produce with it grains and plants,
and gardens of entwined growth?
The Day of Decision is an appointed time.
The Day the horn is blown, you will come in multitudes.
The heaven was opened and became gateways.
And the mountains were moved and became mirages.
Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait
for the transgressors as a homecoming.
They shall remain therein for ages.
They do not taste therein any coolness nor any drink,
but only boiling water and a filthy pus
as a fitting penalty.
They did not expect to be held accountable,
and they vehemently denied Our revelations.
We have kept count of everything in a Record.
So taste, for We will increase you in nothing other than punishment.
For the reverent, there is triumph:
gardens and grapevines,
and nubile companions of same-age,
and a cup that is full.
They do not hear in it any idle talk nor lies.
It is a reward from your Lord, a commensurate donation.
Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is in between them, the Almighty; they have no authority to speak before Him.
On the Day the Ruh and the angels will stand in a row, none will speak except the one permitted by the Almighty and says what is right.
That is the True Day, so whoever wills shall seek a return to his Lord.
Indeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment on the Day when man will look at what his hands have put forth, and the disbeliever will say, "I wish I were dust.
