Surah “Cattle, Livestock”

as rendered by Verbatim Quran - Mahmoud K — 165 verses

6:1
Commendation to Allah, Who created the skies and the earth, and made the darks and the light. Yet those who unbelieve equate with their Lord.
6:2
It is Him who created you from clay, then decreed a term, and a term named by him. Then you controvert.
6:3
And He is The God in the skies and in the earth. He knows your secret and your utter, and He knows what you are acquiring.
6:4
And not one of their Lord's Signs comes to them, but they were averting from it.
6:5
So, they have denied in the fact when it has come to them; then the bulletins of what they used to ridicule will come to them.
6:6
Have they not seen how many a generation We annihilated before them? We had strengthened them on earth more than We strengthened you, and We sent the sky pouring upon them, and We made rivers flow underneath them. Then We annihilated them with their offenses, and We initiated after them a century of others.
6:7
And even if We descended upon you a script in a parchment, so they touched it with their hands, those who unbelieved would have said, 'Indeed, this is only an evident sorcery.'
6:8
And they said, 'Why was not an angel descended upon him.' Had We descended an angel, the matter would have been decreed, then they will not be reprieved.
6:9
And if We made him an angel, We would make him a man, and We would have perplexed upon them with what they perplex.
And Messengers before you have been ridiculed, so those who scorned them were encircled with what they were ridiculing.
Say, 'move in the earth and gander how was the sequel of the deniers’.’
Say, 'To whom is whatever in the skies and the earth?' Say, 'To Allah.' He wrote mercy upon Himself. He shall gather you to the Day of Arising, in which there is no doubt. Those who lost themselves, so they do not believe.
And to Him is what rested in the night and the day. And He is the Hearing, the Knowledgeable.
Say, 'Shall I take an ally other than Allah, Founder of the skies and the earth, and He feeds and is not fed?' Say, 'I was ordered to be the first of those who peaced.' And do not be among the Associators.
Say, 'I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, the tribulation of an immense Day.'
Whoever is diverted from it on that Day, then He had mercy on him. And that is the evident victory.
And if Allah touches you with a detriment, then no lifter to it except Him. And if He touches you with good, then He is Capable upon everything.
And He is the Conqueror over His bondservants. And He is the Wise, the Expert.
Say, 'What thing is bigger in testimony?' Say, 'Allah is Witness between you and me. And this Quran was cued to me, to warn you with it, and whomever it may reach. So, do you witness that there are other gods with Allah?' Say, 'I do not witness.' Say, 'He is but one god, and I am repudiated of what you associate.'
Those to whom We have given the Scripture identify it as they identify their bairns. Those who lost themselves so they do not believe.
And who is more oppressive than someone who fabricated lies about Allah, or denied in His signs? Indeed, the oppressors do not plough.
And on the Day when We squash them all together, then We say to those who associated, “Where are your associates', those you used to claim?”
Then there only affliction is when they said, “By Allah, our Lord, we were not associators.”
Gander how they lied upon themselves. And what they were fabricating, deluded away from them.
And among them are those who listen to you, and We made compartments upon their hearts, so they don't comprehend it, and in their ears is a cargo. And if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. Until, when they come to you, wrangling with you, those who unbelieved say, “These are but stories of the oldens.”
And they inhibit from it, and distance themselves from it, and they annihilate only themselves, but they are unaware.
And if only you could see, as they are stopped before the Fire; then they said, “O let we could be rebound and not deny in the signs of our Lord, and be among the believers.”
Verily, what they used to conceal before appeared to them. And even if they were rebound, they would repeat what they were inhibited from. And they are surely liars.
And they said, “Indeed, it is only our mundane life, and we will not be resurrected.”
And if you could only see, as they were stopped before their Lord. He said, “Is this not the fact?” They said, “Yes indeed, by our Lord.” He said, “Then taste the tribulation with what you use to unbelieve.”
They have lost, those who denied in the encounter with Allah. Until, when the Hour came upon them abruptly, they said, “O, sorrow for us, upon what we have frittered in it.” And they are carrying their burdens on their backs. Bad is what they burden.
And the mundane life is only playing and leisure, and surely the dwelling of the Hereafter is better to those who ethicize. So, do you not reason?
We know that what they say surely saddens you. So, it is not that they deny you, but it is in Allah's signs that the oppressors disdain.
And other messengers before you have been denied, so they persevered upon what they were denied on, and they were hurt, until Our support came to them. And there is no replacement for Allah’s words. And a bulletin from the Messengers has come to you.
And indeed, if their aversion was big upon you, then if you can pursue a shaft into the earth or a stairway to the sky, for you to bring to them a sign. And if Allah wished, He could have gathered them upon guidance. So, do not be among the ignorant.
Indeed, only those who listen will respond. And the dead, Allah will resurrect them; then to Him, they will be returned.
And they said, “If only a sign was descended upon him from his Lord.” Say, “Indeed, Allah is Able to descend a sign, but most of them do not know.”
And there is no creature on earth, nor a bird flying with its wings, but are communities like you. We did not fritter anything in the Scripture. Then to their Lord, they will be squashed.
And those who denied in Our signs are deaf and dumb in the darks. Whomever Allah wishes He deludes, and whomever He wishes, He puts him on a straight route.
Say, “Have you seen? If Allah's tribulation came upon you, or the Hour came to you? Who, other than Allah would you call, if you were truthful?”
Verily, it is Him you call; so, he lifts what you called Him for, if He wishes, and you forget what you associate.
And We have sent to communities before you, so We took them with adversity and detriment, perhaps they adjure.
So, if only, as our battling came to them, they adjured! But their hearts hardened and the Satan ornamented to them what they were moiling.
Then, when they forgot what they were reminded with, We opened upon them the doors of everything. Until, when they reveled with what they were given, We took them abruptly; so, at once they are depressed.
So, the remnant of the folk who oppressed was cut off. And Commendation to Allah, Lord of the Realms.
Say, “Have you seen? If Allah took away your hearing and your visions and sealed upon your hearts, what god other than Allah would bring them to you?” Gander how We serve the signs, then they deviate.
Say, “Have you considered? If Allah's tribulation came to you abruptly or utterly, would any be annihilated except the oppressive folk?”
And We only send the messengers as cheerers and warners. So, whoever believed and reformed then there is no fear upon them, nor shall they sadden.
And those who denied in Our signs, tribulation will touch them with what they were defying.
Say, 'I do not say to you that I have the magazines of Allah, nor do I know the Absentia, nor do I say to you that I am an angel. Indeed, I only follow what is cued to me.' Say, 'Are the blind and the sighted equal? So, do you not figure?'
And warn with it those who fear to be squashed to their Lord. They have no ally and no intercessor instead of Him, perhaps they ethicize.
And do not expel those who call their Lord, morning and evening, wanting His face. Upon you there is nothing from their appraisal. Nor anything from your appraisal is upon them. So, if you expel them, then you would be among the oppressors.
And likewise, We inflicted some of them with one other, that they shall say, 'Are these the ones whom Allah has indebted from among us?' Isn't Allah more Knowledgeable with those who are thankful?
And when those who believe in Our signs come to you, then say, 'Peace upon you, your Lord wrote mercy upon Himself. That whoever among you does a misdeed out of ignorance then he repented afterward and reformed, then He is Forgiving, Merciful.'
And likewise, We resolve the signs. And the path of the criminals shall be evident.
Say, 'I was inhibited from worshipping those you call instead of Allah.' Say, 'I do not follow your whims; else I would be deluded and I am not from those who are guided.'
Say, 'I am upon an evidence from my Lord, and you have denied in Him. I do not have what you accelerate with; for the rule is only to Allah. He narrates the fact, and He is the Best of Resolvers.'
Say, 'If I have what you accelerate with, the matter between you and me would have been decreed. And Allah is more Knowledgeable with the oppressors.'
And with Him are the keys of the Absentia; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is in the land and in the sea. And not a leaf casts but He knows it, and there is not a pip in the darks of the earth, nor is there anything moist nor dry, but in an evident book.
And it is Him Who retrieves you by the night, and He knows what you scarred by the day. Then He resurrects you in it, to decree a named term. Then to Him is your return, then He will inform you of what you were moiling.
And He is the Conqueror over His bondservants, and He sends preservers upon you, until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers retrieved him, and they do not fritter.
Then they were rebound to Allah, their rightful Ally. Is not the rule only to Him? And He is the swiftest of appraisers.
Say, 'Who saves you from the darks of land and sea?' You call Him in adjuration and covertly: 'If He saves us from this; We shall be among the thankful.’?
Say, 'It is Allah who saves you from it, and from every tragedy. Then you associate.'
Say, 'He is the one Capable of sending upon you a tribulation, from over you, or from under your feet. Or He can perplex you into schisms, and make you taste the battling of one another. Gander how We diversify the signs, perhaps they comprehend.'
And your folk denied in it, and it is the fact. Say, 'I am not a keeper upon you.'
For every bulletin a settlement, and you shall know.
And if you saw those who indulge in Our signs, then avert them, until they indulge in another conversation. But should the Satan let you forget, then do not sit after the remembrance with the oppressive folk.
And upon the ethical there is nothing from their appraisal, but a reminder, perhaps they ethicize.
So, discard those who took their religion for playing and leisure, and were lured by the mundane life. And remind with it, else a self is spoiled with what it has acquired. It has no ally nor an intercessor instead of Allah. Even if it equates all the equity, none will be taken from it. These are the ones who were spoiled by what they acquired. To them is a drink from hot liquid, and a painful tribulation with what they were unbelieving.
Say, 'Do we call instead of Allah what can neither benefit us nor harm us and turn upon our backs after Allah has guided us; like someone seduced by the satans, bewildered in the earth. He has friends calling him to guidance: 'Come to us'?' Say, 'Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the guidance, and we were ordered to peace to the Lord of the Realms.'
And upraise the salute, and protect from Him, and it is Him to Whom you will be squashed.'
And it is Him who created the skies and the earth with the fact. And on the Day when He says: 'Be,' it will be. His saying is the fact. And to Him is the Monarchy on the Day when it is puffed into the Siren. The Knower of Absentia and the witnessed. And He is the Wise, the Expert.
And as Ibrahim said to his father Azar, 'Do you take idols as gods? I see that you and your folk are in an evident delusion.'
And likewise, We show Ibrahim the monarchies of the skies and the earth, that he shall be among those who are certain.
So, when the night dimmed upon him, he saw an orb. He said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it evanesced, he said, 'I do not love the evanescent.'
Then, when he saw the moon ablaze, he said, 'This is my lord.' But when it evanesced, he said, 'If my Lord does not guide me, I will be one of the deluded folks.'
Then, when he saw the sun ablaze, he said, 'This is my lord, this is bigger.' But when it evanesced, he said, 'O my folk, I am repudiated of what you associate.
I have directed my face towards Who founded the skies and the earth, inferential, and I am not of the Associators.'
And his folk argued with him. He said, 'Do you argue with me about Allah when He has guided me? And I do not fear what you associated with Him unless my Lord wishes something. My Lord encompassed everything in knowledge. So, will you not remember?
And how should I fear those you associated with Him, and you do not fear that you associated with Allah that in which He did not descended any authorization? Which of the two parties is more entitled to security, if you were knowing?'
Those who believed, and did not perplex their belief with oppression, those, to them is the security, and they are guided.
And that was Our argument which We gave to Ibrahim against his folk. We raise by degrees whomever We wish. Indeed, your Lord is Wise, Knowledgeable.
And We bestowed to him Ishaq and Yaqub, each of them We guided. And We guided Nouh before. And from his descendants Dawood, and Suleiman, and Ayyub, and Yusuf, and Musa, and Harun. And likewise, We recompense the excellors.
And Zechariah, and Yahya, and Issa, and Elias, each of the decent.
And Ismael, and Elyasah, and Younus, and Lute, and each We favored upon the realms.
And of their fathers, and their descendants and their brothers. And We embraced them, and guided them to a straight route.
This is the guidance of Allah. He guides with it whomever He wishes of His bondservants. And Had they associated, their moils would have bloated from them.
Those are they whom We gave the Scripture, and the rule, and the prophethood. So, if these unbelieved in them, then We have delegated them to others who do not unbelieve in them.
Those are they whom Allah has guided, so by their guidance emulate. Say, 'I do not ask you for any wage for it. Indeed, it is only a reminder for the realms.'
And they did not determine the rightful capability of Allah, as they said, 'Allah did not descend anything upon any barian.' Say, 'Who descended the Scripture which Musa came with, a light and guidance for the masses?' You make it parchments, displaying them, yet you conceal much. And you were taught what you did not know, neither you nor your fathers. Say, 'Allah;' then discard them playing in their indulgence.
And this is a Scripture that We descended, blessed, asserting what is between its hands, and to warn the Mother of villages and what's around it. And those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and upon their salute, they preserve.
And who is more oppressive than someone who fabricated lies about Allah, or said, 'It was cued to me,' when nothing was cued to him. And who said, 'I will descend the like of what Allah descended'? And if only you could see as the oppressors in the drenches of death, and the angels with arms outstretched: 'Get yourselves out. Today you are recompensed with the tribulation of humiliation for having said about Allah other than the fact, and because you were arrogating from his signs.'
And you have come to Us individually, as We created you the first time, and you left what We entitled you behind your backs. And We do not see with you, your intercessors, those you claimed were associates with you. It has been cut off between you and it had deluded from you whatever you were claiming.'
It is Allah the Cleaver of the pips and the kernels. He egresses the living from the dead, and He egresses the dead from the living. That is Allah. So how could you be faked?
He is the Cleaver of the sunburst and He made the night a rest, and the sun and the moon an appraisal. That is the determination of the Cherished, the Knowledgeable.
And it is Him Who made the stars for you to be guided by them in the darks of the land and the sea. Thus, We have resolved the signs to folk who know.
And it is Him who initiated you from a single self, then a settlement and a receptacle. We have resolved the signs to folk who comprehend.
And it is Him who descended water from the sky. So, We egressed with it plants of everything, then from it, We egressed greenery, from which We egress embarked pips. And from the palm-trees from its tops are downing clusters, and gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, matching and non-matching. Gander at its fruit when it fruits and its ripening. Indeed, in these are surely signs to folk who believe.
And they made associates to Allah, the Jinn, although He created them. And they ascribed for Him sons and daughters, without knowledge. Praise to Him and Exalted He is, beyond what they specify.
Innovator of the skies and the earth, how could He have a child when He never had a companion? And He created everything, and He is Knowledgeable with everything.
That is Allah, your Lord. There is no god except Him, the Creator of everything; so, worship Him. And He is a Keeper upon all things.
Visions cannot reach Him, but He reach the visions. And He is the Gentle, the Expert.
Perceivables have come to you from your Lord. So, whoever observed, then it is for himself; and whoever goes blind, then against it. And I am not a preserver upon you.
And likewise, We diversify the signs, and they shall say, 'You have studied,' and we shall explain it to folk who know.
Follow what was cued to you from your Lord. There is no god but Him. And avert the Associators.
And if Allah wished, they would not have associated. And We did not make you a preserver upon them, and you are not a keeper upon them.
And do not curse those who call one instead of Allah, else they curse Allah out of hostility without knowledge. Likewise, We ornamented to every community their moils. Then to their Lord is their return and He will inform them of what they were moiling.
And they swore by Allah, with their struggling oaths, that if a sign came to them, they shall believe in it. Say, 'The signs are only with Allah.' But you are unaware that when it comes, they do not believe.
And We tumble their vitals and their visions, as they hadn't believed in it the first time, and We discard them muddling in their tyranny.
And even if We descended the angels to them, and the dead spoke to them, and We squashed everything before them directly, they were not to believe, unless that Allah wishes; but most of them are ignorant.
And likewise, We made for every prophet an adversary, satans from mankind and Jinn, cueing to one another the decorated sayings in allure. And had your Lord wished, they would not have done it. So, discard them and what they fabricate.
And let the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter hark to it, and be satisfied with it, and let them perpetrate whatever they are perpetrating.
Shall I seek a ruler other than Allah, when He is the One who descended to you the Scripture, resolved?' And those to whom We gave the Scripture know that it was descended from your Lord with the fact. So, do not be among the ambivalent.
And the Word of your Lord has been accomplished, truthfully and lawfully. There is no replacement for His words. And He is the Listener, the Knowledgeable.
If you obey most of those on earth, they would delude you from Allah's path. They only follow weening, and indeed, they are only conjecturing.
Indeed, your Lord is more knowledgeable of who deludes from His path, and He is more Knowledgeable with the guided ones.
So, consume from that upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His signs.
And why should you not consume from that upon which the Name of Allah was mentioned, when He has resolved to you what he has prohibited upon you, only that which you were impelled to? And many surely delude by their whims, without knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is more Knowledgeable with the transgressors.
And discard the outward and inward sin. Indeed, those who acquire the sin will be recompensed with what they were perpetrating.
And do not consume from that upon which the Name of Allah was not mentioned, and indeed, it is a defiance. And the satans shall cue to their allies to wrangle you; and if you obey them, you would surely be Associators.
Is he who was dead then We revived, and made for him a light to walk with it among the masses, as him whose example is in the darks, not egressing from it? Likewise, it was ornamented to the unbelievers what they were moiling.
And likewise, We made in every village its biggest criminals, to scheme in it, but they only scheme against themselves, and they are unaware.
And when a sign came to them, they said, 'We will not believe unless we are given the like of what was given to Allah's messengers.' Allah knows best where to put His message. Slighting will strike the criminals at Allah. And a staunch tribulation with what they were scheming.
So, whomever Allah wants to guide, He clarifies his chest to The Peacing, and whomever He wants to delude, He makes his chest tight, hindred, as though he is being ascended in the sky. Likewise, Allah makes the gross upon those who do not believe.
And this is the straight route of your Lord. We have resolved the signs to folk who remember.
To them is the Dwelling of Peace at their Lord, and He is their Ally, with what they were moiling.
And on the day He squashes them all together, “O society of Jinn, much did you have from mankind.” And their allies from mankind said, “Our Lord, we alimented each other, and we reached our term which you appointed for us.” He said, “The fire will be your domicile, in it you will be eternal, except as Allah wishes.” Indeed, your Lord is Wise, Knowledgeable.
And likewise, We ally some of the oppressors to one another, with what they were acquiring.
“O society of Jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, narrating to you My signs, and warning you of the encounter of this Day of yours?” They said, “We testified against ourselves.” And the mundane life lured them. And they testified against themselves that they were unbelievers.
That is because your Lord would not annihilate the villages by oppression while their people are oblivious.
And to each are degrees from what they moiled, and your Lord is not oblivious to what they were moiling.
And your Lord is the Rich, the one with Mercy. If He wishes, he can make you go, and succeed whomever He wishes after you, just as He initiated you from the descendants of another folk.
Indeed, what you are vowed is coming, and you cannot challenge.
Say, “O my folk! Moil according to your position, I am moiling.” So, you shall know to whom will belong the sequel of the Dwelling.” Indeed, the oppressors do not plough.
And they made a share to Allah, from what He strewed of the harrow and animals, so they said, “This is for Allah,” by their claim, “and this is for our associates.” But the share of their associates does not reach Allah, yet the share of Allah reaches their associates. Bad is what they rule.
And likewise, it was ornamented to many of the Associators, by their associates, the killing of their children, to plunge them and to perplex upon them their religion. And Had Allah wished, they would not have done it; so, discard them and what they fabricate.
And they said, “These animals and harrows are enclosed; none may eat them except those we wish,” by they claim, and animals whose backs are prohibited, and animals upon which they do not mention the name of Allah, fabricating lies against Him. He will recompense them with what they were fabricating.
And they said, “What is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males, and prohibited upon our wives.” But if it is a demised one, then they are associates in it. He will recompense them their specification. Indeed, He is Wise, Knowledgeable.
They have lost, those who killed their children foolishly, without knowledge, and prohibited what Allah has catered them, fabricating lies about Allah. They have been deluded and they were not guided.
And it is Him who initiated gardens, arched and non-arched, and date-palms, and crops of different eatables, and olives and pomegranates, matching and non- matching. Eat from its fruit when it fruits, and give its rightfulness on the day of its harvest, and do not exceed. He does not love the extravagant.
And from the animals, transportation and furniture. Consume from what Allah has catered you, and do not follow the footsteps of the Satan. Indeed, He is to you an evident adversary.
Eight couples: two of the lamb, and two of the goats. Say, 'Did He prohibit the two males, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females included? Inform me with knowledge, if you are truthful.'
And two of the camels, and two of the cows. Say, 'Did He prohibit the two males, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females included? Or were you witnesses when Allah advised you with this?' So, who is more oppressive than he who fabricated lies about Allah, to delude the masses without knowledge? Indeed, Allah does not guide the oppressive folk.
Say, 'I find nothing in what was cued to me, a prohibition upon an eater who eats it, except if it is a demised one, or disposed blood, or meat of oinker, so indeed it is gross, or a defiance offered to other than Allah. But whoever is impelled, not pursuing nor repeating, then your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.
And upon those who Jewed, We prohibited everything with a claw. And from the cow and sheep, We prohibited upon them their fat, except what their backs carried, or the entrails, or what was mixed with bone. This is what We recompensed them, with their belligerence. And We are surely truthful.
So, if they denied you, then say, 'Your Lord is the one with vast mercy, and His battling cannot be deflected from the criminal folk.'
The associators will say, 'Had Allah wished, we would not have associated, nor would have our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything.' Likewise, those before them denied, until they tasted Our battling. Say, 'Do you have any knowledge that you can egress for us? Indeed, you follow nothing but weening, and indeed, you are only conjecturing.'
Say, 'So to Allah belongs the reaching argument. If He wished, He would have guided you altogether.'
Say, 'Come up with your witnesses who would testify that Allah has prohibited this.' So, if they testified, do not testify with them. And do not follow the whims of those who denied in Our signs, and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, and those who equate with their Lord.
Say, 'Come, let me recite what your Lord has prohibited upon you: that you associate nothing with Him; and excellence with the parents; and do not kill your children because of impoverishment, We cater for you and them; and do not approach the vices, what was outward of it and what was inward; and do not kill the self which Allah prohibited, except with the fact. That is what He advised you with, perhaps that you reason.'
And do not approach the money of the orphan, except with what is best, until he reaches his staunchest. And fulfill the scale and the allocation with justice. We do not assign any self except its capacity. And when you talk, then be lawful, even if he was with kinship. And fulfill your covenant with Allah. That is what He advised you with, perhaps you remember.
And this is My route, straight, so follow it. And do not follow the paths, so they furcate with you from His path. That is what He advised you with, perhaps you ethicize.
Then We gave Musa the Scripture, accomplished, upon that which is best, and a resolve to everything, and a guide, and mercy, perhaps they believe in the encounter of their Lord.
And this is a blessed Scripture that We descended; so, follow it, and ethicize, perhaps you get mercy.
Else you say, 'The Scripture was only descended upon two parties before us, and we were surely oblivious to studying them.
Or you say, 'Had the Scripture been descended upon us, we would have been more guided than them.' So, an evidence has come to you from your Lord, and guidance, and mercy. So, who is more oppressive than he who deny in Allah's signs, and drifted from them? We will recompense those who drift from Our signs with the worst tribulation with what they were drifting.
Are they gandering only for the angels to come to them, or for your Lord to come, or for some of your Lord's signs to come? On the Day when some of your Lord's signs come, no self will benefit from its belief if it had not believed previously, or had acquired good in its belief. Say, 'Wait, we are waiting.'
Indeed, those who furcated their religion and were schisms, you are not from them in anything. Indeed, their matter is only to Allah; then He will inform them of what they were doing.
Whoever comes up with a decency will have ten times its like, and whoever comes up with a misdeed then he will be recompensed only with its like, and they will not be oppressed.
Say, 'My Lord has guided me to a straight route, an upright religion, the mores of Ibrahim, inferential, and he was not of the Associators.'
Say, 'My salute and my sacrament, and my life and my demise, are to Allah, the Lord of the Realms.
No associate to Him. And with this I was ordered, and I am the first of the Peacers.
Say, 'Am I to pursue a Lord other than Allah when He is the Lord of everything?' And no self acquires except what it is upon it, and no bearer will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, so He will inform you about what you were differing in.
It is Him who made you viceroys of the earth and raised some of you degrees over others, to plague you in what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in punishment, and He is surely Forgiving, Merciful.
