By the night when it covers
By the day when it unfolds
By what created the male and the female
Verily, your striving is inevitably separate and individual
So, as for one who gave and was God-conscious
and held the most beautiful [attributed to the One] to be true—
WE shall facilitate him to the ease [of Peace].
And as for one who was miserly and had considered himself self-sufficient
and held the most beautiful [attributed to the One] to be false—
WE shall facilitate him to the hardship [bereft of Peace].
His wealth will be of no avail when he falls.
Surely, up to US is the Guidance
And indeed, for US is the Last and the First.
So, I warn you of a fire— ablaze
None fuel it except the most wretched—
he who has denied the truth and turned away.
Whereas the God-conscious shall be veered away from it—
The one who gives of his wealth, purifying himself—
and not to anyone with whom a favor turns due—
[his purpose is none] except that he seeks the face of his Rabb, the highest.
And for sure he will soon be content and pleased.
