Surah “Repentance”

as rendered by Verbatim Quran - Mahmoud K — 129 verses

9:1
Repudiated from Allah and His Messenger to those you covenanted from the associators.
9:2
So, scout in the earth four months, and know that you cannot challenge Allah and that Allah will disgrace the unbelievers.
9:3
And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the masses on the day of the Bigger Pilgrimage, that Allah is repudiated from the associators, and so is His Messenger. So, if you repent, it is better for you. But if you elude, then know that you cannot challenge Allah. And cheer those who unbelieved with a painful tribulation.
9:4
Except those among the Associators whom you covenanted, then they did not decrease you anything and did not backup anyone upon you. So, fulfill their covenant to them, to their duration. Indeed, Allah loves the ethical.
9:5
So, when the Prohibited Months have skinned, then kill the Associators wherever you find them. And take them, and incarcerate them, and sit to them at every surveillance. But if they repented, and upraised the salute, and gave the alms, then free their path. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
9:6
And if anyone of the Associators sought your guardianship, then guard him until that he hears the Words of Allah; then escort him to his amnesty. That is because they are folk who do not know.
9:7
How can there be a covenant with the Associators at Allah and at His Messenger, except those you covenanted at the Prohibited Mosque? So, if they straighten to you, then straighten to them. Indeed, Allah loves the ethical.
9:8
How? And if they reign upon you, they do not regard relationship nor moratorium in you. They satisfy you with their mouths, but their hearts refuse, and most of them are defiant.
9:9
They bought with Allah's signs a little worth, so they occluded from His path. Indeed, it was bad that which they were moiling.
They do not regard any relationship nor moratorium with a believer. And those are them, who are the transgressors.
But if they repented, and upraised the salute, and gave the alms, then they are your brothers in religion. And We resolve the signs to folk who know.
But if they revoked their oaths after their covenant, and stabbed in your religion, then fight the premiers of unbelief. Indeed, there is no oath to them, perhaps they inhibit.
Will you not fight folk who revoked their oaths, and intended to egress the Messenger, and they are who started against you the first time? Are you anxious from them? Then Allah is more rightful to be anxious from, if you were believers.
Fight them. Allah will tribulate them with your hands, and disgrace them, and He will support you against them, and He will cure the chests of a believing folk.
And He will remove the rage from their hearts. And Allah redeems whomever He wishes. And Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
Or did you suppose that you will be parted, and when Allah will know those of you who struggled, and did not take allegiance instead of Allah, and nor His Messenger, and nor the believers? And Allah is Expert with what you moil.
It was not for the Associators to construct Allah's Mosques while testifying upon themselves with unbelief. These, their moils bloated, and in the fire they are eternal.
Indeed, the one who construct Allah's Mosques are but one who believed in Allah and the Last Day, and upraised the salute, and gave the alms, and was not anxious, except from Allah. So perhaps those will be among the guided.
Have you made the watering for the pilgrims and constructing the Prohibited Mosque the same as who believed in Allah and the Last Day and struggled in the path of Allah? They are not equal at Allah. And Allah does not guide the oppressive folk.
Those who believed, and emigrated, and struggled in the path of Allah with their money and their selves, are of a greater degree at Allah. And these are the victorious.
Their Lord cheers them with a mercy from Him, and satisfaction, and gardens in which to them is a constant opulence,
Eternal in it forever. Indeed, Allah has an immense wage.
O you who believed! Do not take your fathers and your brothers as allies if they loved unbelief upon belief. And whoever of you takes them as allies, then these are the them, the oppressors.
Say, 'If your fathers, and your bairns, and your brothers, and your spouses, and your society, and the money you have perpetrated, and a trade you are anxious for its diminish, and residences you are satisfied with, are more loveable to you than Allah, and His Messenger, and the struggle in His path, then repose until Allah brings His order.' And Allah does not guide the defying folk.
Allah has supported you in many situations; and on the day of Hunayn, when your much count gaped you, but it did not avail you with anything; and the earth, as spacious as it was, tightened upon you; then you alienated departing.
Then Allah descended His tranquility upon His Messenger, and upon the believers; and He descended soldiers you did not see, and He tribulated those who unbelieved. Such is the recompense of the unbelievers.
Then Allah will redeem afterward upon whomever He wishes; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
O you who believed! The Associators are but nauseous, so let them approach the Prohibited Mosque after this year of theirs. And if you fear lack, then Allah shall enrich you from His favor, if He wishes. Indeed, Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor owe the rightful religion, from among those who were given the Scripture, until they give the compensation by a hand while they are slighted.
And the Jews said, 'Uzaer is the son of Allah,' and the Christians said, 'The Messiah is the son of Allah.' This was their saying, with their mouths, imitating the saying of those who unbelieved before. Allah fought them! How they are faked!
They took their rabbis and their monks as lords instead of Allah, and the Messiah Son of Maryam. Although they were ordered to worship none but One God. There is no god except Him. Praise to Him, about what they associate.
They want to extinguish Allah's light with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to finish His light, even though the unbelievers hated it.
It is Him who sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of fact, to reign it upon all religions, even though the Associators hated it.
O you who believed! Indeed, many of the rabbis and priests surely consume the money of the masses with the repealed, and occlude from the path of Allah. And those who treasure gold and silver, and do not confer them in the path of Allah, so cheer them with a painful tribulation.
On the Day when it will be heated in the Fire of Gehennam, then their foreheads, and their sides, and their backs will be ironed with it: 'This is what you treasured for yourselves; so, taste what you used to treasure.'
Indeed, the count of months, at Allah, is twelve months, in the Scripture of Allah, on the Day He created the skies and the earth, of which four are Prohibited. This is the upright religion. So, do not oppress yourselves during them. And fight the Associators collectively, as they fight you collectively, and know that Allah is with the ethical.
Indeed, the intercalary, is but an increase in unbelief, by which those who unbelieved are deluded. They allow it one annum, and prohibit it another annum, to coincide the count of what Allah prohibited. So, they allow what Allah has prohibited. Their bad moils were ornamented to them. And Allah does not guide the unbelieving folk.
O you who believed! What is it with you, when it was said to you, 'Go forth in the path of Allah,' you heavied to the earth? Are you satisfied with the mundane life than the Hereafter? Then the aliments of the mundane life, in the Hereafter, are only little.
If you do not go forth, He will tribulate you with a painful tribulation, and will replace you with folk other than you, and you will not harm Him with anything. And Allah is Capable upon everything.
If you do not support him, then Allah has supported him, as those who unbelieved egressed him. Second of a two as they are in the grotto. As he said to his companion, 'Do not sadden, indeed Allah is with us.' So, Allah descended His tranquility upon him and aided him with soldiers you did not see, and made the word of those who unbelieved the lowest, and the Word of Allah is the highest. And Allah is Cherished, Wise.
Go forth, light and heavy, and struggle with your money and yourselves in the path of Allah. That is better for you if you were to know.
If it was a near reward and a transient travel, they would have followed you; but the hardship was far upon them. And they will plight by Allah: 'If we could, we would have egressed with you.' They annihilate themselves, and Allah knows that they are surely liars.
Allah has pardoned you when you consented to them until it becomes evident to you who were truthful and to know the liars.
Those who believe in Allah and in the Last Day do not consent you to struggle with their money and their selves. And Allah is Knowledgeable with the ethical.
Only those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day consent you. And their hearts doubted, so they are reluctant in their doubts.
And had they wanted to egress, they would have readied the tools for it; but Allah hated their emission, so he impeded them, and it was said, 'Sit with the sitting.'
If they egressed with you, they would have added only fumbling to you, and they would have caused setback within you, pursuing affliction for you. And some of you are listeners to them. And Allah is Knowledgeable with the oppressors.
They have sought affliction before, and they tumbled the matters to you until the fact came, and the order of Allah reigned, while they are hating.
And among them is one who says, 'Consent to me, and do not inflict me.' Is it not that they fell into affliction? And indeed, Gehennam is surely encompassing with the unbelievers.
If excellence strikes you, it upsets them; and if a disaster strikes you, they say, 'We took our own matter from before,' and they elude, while they are reveling.
Say, 'None will strike us except what Allah has written to us; He is our Ally.' And upon Allah, let the believers rely.
Say, 'Are you reposing with us anything other than one of the two bests? And we are reposing that Allah will strike you with a tribulation from Himself, or with our hands. So, repose, we are reposing with you.'
Say, 'confer voluntarily or coercively, it will not be accepted from you. Indeed, you were a defying folk.'
And what prevented them from the acceptance of their confitures was only because they unbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and they do not come to the salute except while they are lazy, and they do not confer except while hating.
So, let neither their money nor their children gape you. Indeed, Allah wants only to tribulate them with it in this mundane life, and that their selves disgorge while they are unbelievers.
And they plight by Allah that they are surely among you, and they are not among you. But they are folk who furcate.
If they find a refuge, or grottos, or a hideout, they would elude towards it, while they are raging.
And among them are those who slam you in charities. So, if they were given from it, they are satisfied, but if they were not given from it, they at once exasperate.
And if they were satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger have given them, and said, 'On Allah is sufficient for us; Allah shall give us of His favor, and His Messenger. Indeed, to Allah, we are craving.'
Indeed, charities are but for the poor, and the impecunious, and those moiling upon it, and those whose hearts are affiliated, and in the necks, and the amerced, and in the path of Allah, and the path-bairn. An ordinance from Allah. And Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
And among them are those who hurt the Prophet, and say, 'He is consent.' Say, 'He is a better consent to you. He believes in Allah, and he confides to the believers, and a mercy to those who believed from you.' And those who hurt the Messenger of Allah, to them is a painful tribulation.
They plight to you by Allah to satisfy you. But Allah and His prophet are more rightful to be satisfied by them if they were believers.
Did they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger, then to him is the Fire of Gehennam, eternal in it? That is the immense disgrace.
The hypocrites are wary that a chapter is descended upon them, informing them about what is in their hearts. Say, 'Ridicule; Indeed, Allah will egress what you are wary about.'
And if you ask them, they will say, 'We were just indulging and playing.' Say, 'Were you ridiculing in Allah, and His Signs, and His Messenger?'
Do not apologize. You have unbelieved after your belief. If We pardon a party of you, We will tribulate a party, because they were criminals.
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women, some of them among some. They order with the wrong, and inhibit from kindness, and grip their hands. They forgot Allah, so He forgot them. Indeed, the hypocrites are them who are the defiant.
Allah has vowed the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the unbelievers, the Fire of Gehennam, eternal in it. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has damned them. And they will have a constant tribulation.
Like those before you. They were stauncher in power than you and had more money and children. So, they alimented with their welfare, then you alimented with your welfare, like those before you who alimented with their welfare. And you indulged, like those who indulged. It is they, whose moils bloated in the mundane and in the Hereafter. And those are they who are the losers.
Did they not get the bulletin of those before them? The folk of Nouh, and Aad, and Thamud; and the folk of Ibrahim, and the companions of Median, and the Fakes? Their messengers came to them with the evidence. So, Allah was never to oppress them, but themselves, they were oppressing.
And the believing men and the believing women, some of them are allies of some. They order with kindness, and inhibit from the wrong, and upraise the salute, and give the alms, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those, Allah will have mercy on them. Indeed, Allah is Cherished, Wise.
Allah vowed the believing men and believing women, gardens beneath which rivers flow, eternal in it, and beaut residencies in Gardens of Eden. And satisfaction from Allah is bigger. That is the immense victory.
O Prophet! struggle against the unbelievers and the hypocrites, and be tough upon them. And their home is Gehennam, and a miserable destiny!
They plight by Allah that they didn't say, but they said the word of unbelief, and they unbelieved after their peacing. And they intended with what they could not attain. And they avenged only because Allah and His Messenger have enriched them from His favor. So, if they repent, it would be better to them; but if they elude, Allah will tribulate them with a painful tribulation, in the mundane and in the Hereafter. And to them in the earth, no ally and no supporter.
And among them are those who covenanted Allah: 'If He gives us of His favor, we shall be charitable and we shall be among the decent.'
So, when He gave them from His favor, they stinged with it, and they eluded while averting.
So, He backed them hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they encounter Him, with what they violated of their vow to Allah, and with what they were lying.
Do they not know that Allah knows their secrets and their connivance? And indeed, Allah is the Knower of the Absentias?
Those who lambaste the volunteers from the believers in the charities and those who find nothing except their own efforts, so they scorn from them. Allah scorned from them. And to them is a painful tribulation.
Whether you ask forgiveness to them or do not ask forgiveness to them, even if you ask forgiveness seventy times, then Allah will not forgive to them. That is because they unbelieved in Allah and His Messenger. And Allah does not guide the defying folk.
The laggards reveled with their sitting behind the Messenger of Allah. And they hated to struggle with their money and their selves in Allah's path. And they said, 'Do not go forth in the heat.' Say, 'The Fire of Gehennam is stauncher in heat if they were comprehending.'
So, let them laugh a little, and weep much; a recompense with what they were acquiring.
So, if Allah returns you to a party of them, then they consented you to egress, then say, 'You will not egress with me, ever, nor will you fight an adversary with me. You were satisfied by sitting the first time, so sit with the laggards.'
And do not ever salute upon any of them who dies, and do not stand upon his grave. Indeed, they unbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were defiant.
And do not let their money and their children gape you. Allah only wants to tribulate them with it in the mundane, and their selves to disgorge while they are unbelievers.
And when a chapter is descended, that: 'Believe in Allah and struggle with His Messenger,' the prominent among consented you. And they said, 'let us to be with those who are sitting.'
They were satisfied to be with the laggards. And it was stamped upon their hearts, so they do not comprehend.
But the Messenger and those who believed with him struggled with their money and their selves. And those, to them is the rectitudes. And these are them who are the ploughers.
Allah has readied to them gardens beneath which rivers flow, eternal in it. That is the immense victory.
And the apologetic among the Arabians came to be consented to, and those who denied Allah and His Messenger sat. A painful tribulation will strike those among them who unbelieved.
There is no hindrance upon the frail, nor upon the malade, nor upon those who cannot find anything to confer, if they counselled to Allah and His Messenger. There is no path upon the excellors. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
And nor upon those who whenever they come to you, to carry them, you said, 'I cannot find what I carry you on.' They eluded, and their eyes overflowing with tears, saddened for not finding what to confer.
The path is only upon those who consent you, while they are rich. They were satisfied to be with the laggards. And Allah stamped upon their hearts, so they do not know.
They apologize to you when you return to them. Say, 'Do not apologize; we will not confide to you; Allah has informed us from your reports. And Allah will see your moils, and His Messenger; then you will be rebound to the Knower of the Absentia and the witnessed, so He will inform you of what you were moiling.'
They will plight to you by Allah, when you tumble to them, to avert from them. So, avert from them. They are gross, and their home is Gehennam; a recompense with what they were acquiring.
They plight to you to be satisfied with them. But even if you were satisfied them, Allah is not satisfied about the defying folk.
The Arabians are stauncher in unbelieving and hypocrisy, and better that they do not know the bounds of what Allah descended on His Messenger. And Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
And among the Arabians is that who considers what he confers an amercement. And he reposes for you the turns. Upon them is the bad turn. And Allah is Hearer, Knowledgeable.
And among the Arabians is one who believes in Allah and the Last Day, and considers what he confers as oblations to Allah, and the salutes of the Messenger. Surely, it is an oblation to them. Allah shall enter them into His mercy. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
And the preceders, the first of the Migrants and the Supporters, and those who followed them with the best. Allah is satisfied about them, and they are satisfied about Him. And He readied to them Gardens beneath which rivers flow, eternal in it forever. That is the immense victory.
And among the Arabians around you are hypocrites and among the people of Medina. They mutinied upon hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We know them. We will tribulate them twice; then they will be rebound to an immense tribulation.
And others have confessed with their offenses, having mixed a decent moil and another bad. Perhaps Allah will redeem them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Take a charity from their money, to purify them and kindle them with it; and salute upon them. Indeed, your salute is settling to them. And Allah is Hearer, Knowledgeable.
Do they not know that Allah is who accepts the repentance from His worshippers, and that He takes the charities and that Allah is Him the Redeemer, the Merciful?
And say, 'Moil. So, Allah will see your moils, and His Messenger, and the believers. And you will be rebound to the Knower of the Absentia and the witnessed, then He will inform you of what you were moiling.'
And others are adjourned to Allah's order, He will either tribulate them or redeem them. And Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
And those who took a mosque for detriment, and unbelief, and furcation between the believers, and as a surveillance to those who fought Allah and His Messenger before. And they shall plight: 'We only intended the best.' And Allah testifies that they are surely liars.
Do not stand in it, ever. A mosque based upon ethic from the first day is surely more rightful for you to stand in it. In it are men who love to purify. And Allah loves those who purify.
So, is he who based his building upon ethic from Allah and satisfaction better, or he who based his building on the periphery of a crumbling crevice, so it crumbled with him into the Fire of Gehennam? And Allah does not guide the oppressive folk.
The building which they built is still doubtful in their hearts, except that their hearts will only cut. And Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their selves and their money with that, indeed, to them is the Garden. They fight in the path of Allah, so they kill and get killed. A vow upon Him in the Torah, and the Gospel, and the Quran. And who is more fulfilling to his covenant than Allah? So be cheerful with your pledge which you pledged with, and that is the immense victory.
The repenters, the worshippers, the commenders, the scouting, the kneelers, the prostrators, the commanders with kindness and the inhibitors from the wrong, and the preservers of Allah's bounds, and cheer the believers.
It was not for the Prophet and those who believed to ask forgiveness to the Associators, even if they were with kinship, after it has become evident to them that they are the companions of Hell.
And asking forgiveness by Ibrahim to his father was only because of a vow he vowed to him. But when it became evident to him that he was an adversary to Allah, he repudiated from him. Indeed, Ibrahim was surely empathetic, clement.
And Allah was never to delude a folk after He had guided them until He explains to them what they should protect from. Indeed, Allah is Knowledgeable with everything.
Indeed, to Allah belongs the Monarchy of the skies and the earth. He revives and demises. And to you, instead of Allah, there is neither an ally nor a supporter.
Allah has redeemed upon the Prophet, and the Emigrants, and the Supporters, those who followed him in the hour of hardship, after the hearts of a party of them almost swerved. Then He redeemed upon them. Indeed, with them, He is Forbearing, Merciful.
And upon the three who laggard. Until, when the earth, as spacious as it is, tightened upon them, and their selves tightened upon them, and they weened that there was no refuge from Allah, except to Him, He redeemed upon them to repent. Indeed, Allah is Him who is the Redeemer, the Merciful.
O you who believed! protect from Allah, and be with the truthful.
It was not for the people of Medina and the Arabians around them to lag from the Messenger of Allah, nor to crave with themselves upon him. That is because they will not be stricken by thirst, nor fatigue, nor famine in the path of Allah, nor do they step a step that enrages the unbelievers, nor do they attain anything attainable from an adversary, but it was written to them as a decent moil. Indeed, Allah does not waste the wage of the excellors.
And they do not confer any conferring, small nor big, nor do they cut any valley, but it is written to them. For Allah to recompense them the best of what they were moiling.
And it was not for the believers to go forth collectively. So was it not for a group to go forth from every party of them, to educate themselves in the religion, and to warn their folk when they return to them, perhaps they will be wary.
O you who believed! Fight those who are alongside you from the unbelievers, and let them find toughness in you, and know that Allah is with the ethical.
And whenever a chapter is descended, then some of them say, 'Which of you has this increased him in belief?' As for those who believed: it increased them in belief, and they are cheering.
But as for those in whose hearts is a malady, then it only added them gross to their gross, and they died while they were unbelievers.
Do they not see that they are inflicted once or twice every annum? Then they do not repent, nor do they remember.
And whenever a chapter is descended, some of them gander at some, 'Does anyone see you?' Then they diverted. Allah diverts their hearts because they are folk who do not comprehend.
There came to you a messenger from among yourselves, cherished upon him what you suffer, scrupulous upon you. With the believers, he is forbearing, merciful.
But if they elude, then say, 'Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no god except Him; upon Him, I relied, and He is the Lord of the Immense Throne.'
