Surah “The Sundering, Splitting Open”

as rendered by Saeed Malik — 25 verses

When the sky is split open,
and hearkens to its Rabb, and duty-bound it was.
When the earth stretches
and throws out what was in her, and empties out,
and hearkens to its Rabb, and duty-bound she was.
O man, surely, you are each a toiler, in a constant toil unto your Rabb— one destined to meet HIM.
Thereupon, as for him who is given his record to his right—
he then shall be reckoned with an easy reckoning
and he will revert to his people, elated.
And as for him who is given his record behind his back—
He shall cry out, ‘remorse.’
while he fuels a blaze.
Verily, [ere this], he was elated in the company of his people
He indeed had assumed that he would never decline
Yes of course! Surely, his Rabb is ever seeing of all about him.
So, Nay! I swear by sunset’s transient afterglow,
And by the night and all that it ensconces
And by the moon when it is full faced,
You surely are journeying, plane to plane.
So, what is with them that they do not believe,
And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not prostrate? ۩
Nay! The ones who have disbelieved deny the truth.
While Allah best knows about what [deeds] they pack away [for the Hereafter].
So then, give them tidings of an agonizing punishment
Excepted are the ones who had believed and did the right deeds. For them is an unconditional reward.
