Surah “The Tidings, The Announcement”

as rendered by Mohammad Shafi — 40 verses

What are they asking one another
About the most important topic [of Resurrection
Concerning which they differ
No, they will soon come to know
No, no, they will soon come to know [the Truth]
Have We not made the earth specially prepred [for sustenance of life]
And the mountains as stabilisers ?
And We created you in pairs
And We made your sleep a means of rest
And We made the night as cover
And We made the day for earning a livelihood
And We have built above you seven strong [firmaments/heavens/atmospeherioc layers]
And We have made a blazing source of light
And We send water pouring down in abundance from the rain-bearing clouds
So that We may produce therewith grain and vegetation
And gardens luxuriant
Indeed, the Day of Decision is a divinely appointed time
When that Day the trumpet is blown, you come out in droves
And the heaven is opened as if it were gates
And the mountains are moved away, as if they had been a mirage
Indeed, Hell is waiting
As home for the transgressors
They shall remain therein for ages
They shall taste therein neither coolness nor any drink
But boiling water and a pus-like thing
An appropriate recompense
They never expected to be called to account
And they falsely rejected Our signs/Verses
And We have recorded everything in a Book
"So taste now [the punishment;] for, now, We shall increase on you nothing but punishment!"
Indeed, for the pious ones, there is salvation
[They shall be in] gardens and vineyards
And [with] likeable companions
And cups filled to the brim
They shall not hear any idle talk, or any lies, therein
[Their life in the Hereafter] will be a reward from your Lord, a measured gift
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, the Gracious! None shall have it in their power [in His presence] to address Him
The Day the Spirit and the angels stand in rows, none shall speak except those whom the Lord of Mercy permits, and who will say only what is right
That Day is sure to come. So let him, who wishes to, take the right path to return to his Lord
We have warned you of Punishment that is near. The Day when it comes, man shall see what his hands had sent ahead, and he who has suppressed the Truth shall say, "Oh, would that I were dust!"
