By the sun and its morning brightness
and ˹by˺ the moon when it (i.e., moon) follows it (i.e., the sun)
and ˹by˺ the day when it (i.e., day) displays it (i.e., sun’s brightness)
and ˹by˺ the night when it (i.e., night) covers it (i.e., day)
and ˹by˺ the sky and He ˹Allah˺ Who built it (i.e., sky)
and ˹by˺ the earth and He ˹Allah˺ Who spread it (i.e., earth)
and ˹by˺ the soul and He ˹Allah˺ Who proportioned it (i.e., soul)
then He ˹Allah˺ inspired it (i.e., soul with conscience to distinguish between) its wickedness and its righteousness
Indeed, he succeeds who purifies it (i.e., soul)
and indeed he fails who corrupts it (i.e., soul)
The people of˺ thamūd denied (i.e., rejected the truth of their Prophet Ṣâliḥ) by their transgression (i.e., exceeding all limits)
when the most wicked (i.e., unfortunate) of them (i.e., from the people of thamud) rose up (i.e., to kill the she-camel)
But (Prophet Ṣâliḥ) the messenger of Allah had said to them (i.e., the people of thamud), “˹Be careful˺ this is the she-camel of Allah and her ˹turn to˺ drink“
But they called him (i.e., Prophet Ṣâliḥ) a liar and they hamstrung (i.e., slaughtered) her (i.e., she camel). So their Lord ˹Allah˺ crushed them (i.e., people of thamūd) for their crime and levelled them ˹to the ground˺
and He ˹Allah˺ does not fear of its consequences
