Surah “The Sun”

as rendered by Munir Mezyed — 15 verses

I swear By the sun and its early morning brightness:
By the moon when it follows the sun:
By the day when it reveals the sun and its luminosity:
By the night when it blurs it:
By the sky and the One Who has built it:
By the earth and the One Who has spread it out.
By the Human Person and the One Who has perfectly fashioned him,
And inspired him the knowledge of good and evil:
Indeed, He who indulges in purity will ultimately achieve a blissful life / or gain eternal salvation.
And verily he who plunges himself into iniquity is doomed to perdition.
(The tribe of) Thamūd denied the Truth out of arrogance,
When the most wretched one among them rose up to kill the she-camel.
The Messenger of Allah said unto them: “Beware! It is the She-camel of Allâh. Do not Exclude her from having her share of drinking!”
But they were inclined to deny him and so they hamstrung her. So their Lord destroyed them for their iniquitous deeds and made them equal in destruction.
Most surely He does not fears its consequence.
