Surah “The Dawn, Daybreak”

as rendered by Sahib Mustaqim Bleher — 30 verses

By the Daybreak,
And the ten nights,
And the even and the odd,
And the night when it recedes,
Does this contain an oath for those of understanding?
Did you not see how your Lord dealt with ´Ad?
(The clan of) Iram with their tall buildings,
The like of which had not been created on the land.
And Thamud who carved out rocks in the valley.
And Pharaoh with his monuments,
Who all transgressed in the land,
And increased corruption in it,
So your Lord poured severe punishment over them.
For your Lord is watchful.
So when his Lord tries man by honouring and blessing him, he says: my Lord has honoured me.
And when He tries him by tightening is provision, he says: my Lord has humiliated me.
But no, you do not honour the orphan,
And do not encourage the feeding of the poor,
And devour the inheritance completely,
And love wealth greatly.
But no, when the earth will be shaken to the ground again and again,
And your Lord and the angels will come in ranks,
And hell will be brought that day - that day man remembers, but what use is the remembrance for him?
He will say: woe to me, if only I had sent (something) ahead for my life.
But today, nobody will punish like He does,
And nobody will restrain like He does.
Oh agreeable soul!
Return to your Lord, content and accepted,
And enter amongst My servants,
And enter My garden.
