Surah “Defrauding, The Defrauders, The Cheats, Cheating”

as rendered by Munir Mezyed — 36 verses

Woe betide the defrauders
Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from the people, they demand it full,
And when they have to give by measure or weight (to the people), they give less than its due.
Do they not know that they will be resurrected (for reckoning)
On a Great Day?
The day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of all the beings.
No indeed! The record of deeds of the impious from among the defrauders is certainly in Sijjeen- (in Hades or the lower world).
And what will make you know exactly what Sijjeen is?
It is a written book.
Woe on that day betide those who are spiritually blind-
Who persist in denying the Day of Judgment.
None will venture to deny it except for every sinful transgressor.
Whenever the Qur'ānic Verses are recited to him, he says: “Myths of the ancient world."
No indeed! In fact, their hearts have been tarnished by that which they were inclined to commit!
No indeed! From (the Mercy of their) Lord, that day, they will surely be banned.
Then indeed, they will burn in the Hellfire.
And then be told: "This is the torment of the Fire that you were inclined to deny."
No indeed! The record of deeds of the Pure in Heart is in Illiyin (a highly exalted place in the seventh heaven).
And what will make you know exactly what Illiyin is?
It is a written book,
Witnessed by those who are brought near (to the Lord).
Indeed, those who are Pure in Heart will be in eternal bliss,
On adorned couches, gazing around.
You will perceive in their faces the glow of delight.
They will be given to drink of sealed, brilliant wine
Whose seal emanates from it the scent of musk. So let whoever is eager to taste this strive diligently.
With it will be given a mixture of Tasnîm:
A fountain from which those who nearest to Allâh will drink.
Surely the Ungodly Sinners used to laugh at the ones who live by Faith.
And when they passed by them, they winked at one another in derision.
When they returned to their families, they would return exultantly;
And when they saw them, they would say: "Indeed, theses are the ones who have gone astray.”
Yet We have not appointed them to watch over them.
But on that day, those who live by Faith will be laughing at the Ungodly Sinners.
(They are) on adorned couches, gazing around.
Surely those who are spiritually dead and blind are requited for what they used to do?
