WOE BETIDE the unjust
who, when people measure for them, exact in full
but when they measure or weigh for them, defraud them
Do they not think they will be raised to lif
upon a fateful day
the day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe
No! The record of the sinners is in Sijjīn
Would that you knew what Sijjīn is
It is a sealed book
On that day woe betide the disbeliever
who deny the Last Judgement
None denies it except the sinful transgresso
who, when Our revelations are recited to him, says: ‘Fables of the ancients!‘
No! But their own deeds have drawn a veil over their hearts
No! On a screen shall on that day be set between them and their Lord
Then shall they burn in Hell
and shall be told: ‘This is what you denied!‘
No! But the record of the righteous shall be in ‘Illiyyūn
Would that you knew what ‘Illiyyūn is
It is a sealed book
seen only by the favoured ones
The righteous will surely be in bliss
Reclining upon soft couches they will gaze around
and in their faces you shall mark the glow of joy
They shall be served with pure nectar to drink
securely sealed, whose very dregs are musk: for this let all contenders emulously strive
tempered with the waters of Tasnīm
a spring at which the favoured will refresh themselves
Those who transgress laugh at the faithfu
and wink at one another as they pass by them
When they meet their own kin they speak of them with jests
and when they see them say: ‘These have surely lost their way.‘
Yet they were not sent to be their keepers
But on that day the faithful will at the infidels laugh
as they recline upon their couches and gaze around
Shall not the infidels be rewarded according to what they did
