Surah “He Frowned”

as rendered by Sahib Mustaqim Bleher — 42 verses

He frowned and turned away,
When the blind man came to him.
And how can you tell that he might have purified himself,
Or remembered, so the remembrance benefited him?
As for him who is arrogant,
You busy yourself with him,
And it is not up to you whether he purifies himself.
And as for him who hurries towards you,
And fears,
You pay no attention to him,
No, it is a reminder.
So whoever pleases can remember it.
On distinguished pages,
Elevated and purified,
In the hands of ambassadors,
Dignified and dutiful.
So man is destroyed when he rejects it.
From what did He create him?
From a sperm He created him and shaped him.
Then He made the way easy for him.
Then He made him die and be buried.
Then, when He pleases, He resurrects him.
But no, he does not comply with what He ordered him.
So let man look at his food:
We made the water pour out,
Then We made the earth split open,
And grew greenery on it,
And grapes and fresh dates,
And olive trees and date palms,
And abundant enclosed gardens,
And fruit and fodder.
A provision for you and for your cattle.
Then, when the scream comes,
That day man will run away from his brother,
And his mother and his father,
And his spouse and his children.
Every one of them will have something to keep him busy that day.
Faces will be bright on that day,
Laughing and happy,
And faces will be covered in dust that day,
Impurity will cover them,
Those are the immoral ones who rejected (the truth).
