I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
And I swear by the censorious soul.
Does man think that We will not gather his bones?
Nay, We are able to make his fingers uniform.
Nay, man desires that he may sin in front of Him.
He asks, 'When is the Day of Resurrection?’
So when the eyes are dazzled,
And the moon is eclipsed,
And the sun and the moon are gathered,
Man will say on that day, 'Where is the place of fleeing?'
Not so, no refuge.
To your Lord on that day is the place of settledness.
On that day man will be informed of what He sent forward and kept back.
Nay, man is an evidence against himself,
Even if he offers his excuses.
Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.
Indeed, upon Us is its gathering and its reading;
And when We have read it, then follow its reading.
Then indeed, upon Us is its clearness of speech.
Not so, nay you love the transitory life,
And you leave the hereafter.
Faces on that day are bright,
To their Lord, looking.
And faces on that day are frowning,
They will think that a back-breaking act will be done with them.
Not so, when it reaches the collarbones,
And it is said, 'Who is charming?'
And he thinks that it is the parting,
And the leg is wrapped with the leg;
To your Lord on that day is the driving.
And he verified not and he prayed not;
But he denied, and turned away.
Then he went to his people strutting.
Most fit for you, so most fit.
Again most fit for you, so most fit.
Does man think that he will be left neglected?
Was he not a sperm from emitted semen?
Then he was a clot, then He created, then He made uniform,
Then He made from him the pair: the male and the female.
Is not that able to give the dead life?
