Surah “The Reality, The Inevitable”

as rendered by A. S. Mohamed — 52 verses

The Undeniable Reality!
What is the Undeniable Reality?
And how would you know what the Undeniable Reality is?
Thamoud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity.
As for Thamoud, they were annihilated by the devastating blast.
And as for Aad, they were annihilated by a devastating howling wind.
He subjected it upon them for seven nights and eight days nonstop. You could see the people therein fallen dead as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
So do you see any remnant of them left?
Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned towns came up with wrongdoing.
They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip.
Indeed, when the water totally overwhelmed, We carried you on the floating vessel
that We would make it a reminder for you, and that attentive ears may heed it.
So when the horn is blown a single blast,
and the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed to rubble with a single crushing blow;
on that Day, the Event will occur.
The heaven was split open, for on that Day, it was indeed frail.
The angels will be around its edges, and eight will carry your Lord's Throne above them on that Day.
On that Day, you will be exhibited. No secret of yours will be hidden.
So for the one who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my book.
I certainly knew that I was going to receive my reckoning."
So he will have a contented life
in a high Garden,
with its ripe fruits hanging low:
"Eat and drink joyfully in return for what you did before in days gone by."
And as for the one who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I was not given my book
and had not known my reckoning!
I wish it were the absolute end!
My wealth has not availed me.
My authority has been wiped out."
Take him and shackle him,
then roast him in Hellfire.
Then insert him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.
He did not used to believe in God, the Great,
nor did he advocate the feeding of the needy.
So he has no friend here today,
nor any food other than discharged pollution
which none eats but the sinners.
So I swear by what you see
and what you do not see:
it is indeed the utterance of a noble messenger.
It is not the utterance of a poet. Little do you believe!
Nor is it the utterance of a soothsayer. Little do you take heed!
It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
Had he falsely attributed any sayings to Us,
We would have grabbed him by the right,
and We would have severed his aorta.
None of you would be able to prevent it.
And indeed, it is a Reminder for the reverent.
And indeed, We know that some of you are deniers.
And indeed, it is a cause of remorse for the disbelievers.
It is the true certainty.
So glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.
