Surah “Divorce”

as rendered by Saeed Malik — 12 verses

O Prophet, when [any of] you divorce your wives, then [first] separate from them for their [waiting] term and keep track of the term and be conscious of Allah, Rabb of all of you. Do not expel them from their homes and neither should they leave unless they give cause to open immoral conduct. These are the bounds set by Allah and whoever breaks the bounds set by Allah— he indeed has wronged his own soul. You cannot ascertain what Allah may cause to happen after that undertaking.
When they have reached their term then [either] retain them in empathy and fairness, or part with them in empathy and fairness, and call to witness two persons of impartial integrity from among you and record uprightly the testimony for Allah. Thus, HE counsels all those who believe in Allah and the Last Day. And to one who stays conscious of Allah— HE will make a way out for him.
And HE will sustain him from where he did not suppose. And whoever places his trust in Allah— HE is his sufficiency. Surely, Allah is attainer of HIS purpose. Allah has set a measure for everything.
And as for those among your women who are past expecting menstruation, if you have doubt, then their waiting term is three months. And as for those who have not menstruated and are pregnant, their term is until they deliver their burden. And whosoever is conscientious, Allah will make his undertaking easy for him.
That is the command of Allah, which HE has sent down unto you. And whosoever remains conscious of Allah— HE will efface his ill-deeds from him, and HE will amplify his reward.
Give them peaceable residence out of where you peacefully reside, from your available means. And do not impose hardship on them to put pressure on them. And if there be such who are pregnant— spend on them until they have delivered their burden. Thence if they nurse for you, then give them their rightful due and share the undertaking between yourselves with fairness and empathy. But if you experience difficulty between you— then another woman should promptly nurse [the child] for the father [at his expense].
Let the possessor of abundance spend from his abundance, and he whose provision is of limited measure— let him spend from what Allah has given to him. Allah does not task a soul except by what HE has given to it. Allah shall assign ease after hardship.
How many a settlement stood in defiance against the command of its Rabb and HIS messengers— wherefor WE called them to account with a firm reckoning and WE punished it with an apt punishment.
Thus, it partook the ill consequence of its undertaking. And the end result of its undertaking was ruin.
Allah has proportioned a severe punishment for them. So, be conscious of Allah, O possessors of essential insight— the ones have embraced Faith. Allah has already sent down a reminder unto you,
[through] a messenger, who recites unto you the clear and open verses of Allah, so that HE may bring forth, the ones who have embraced Faith and have done the right deeds, out of layers of darkness toward the Light. And whoever believes in Allah and does right, HE will admit him to gardens with rivers flowing in subservience— abiders therein beyond time. Allah has indeed beautified a provision for him.
Allah is HE Who created the seven heavens, and from the [vantage of the] earth, is a pattern of them. The Divine Command is always flowing between them, that you may know that Allah has almighty control over each and every thing and its measure, and that Allah has always contained everything in knowledge.
